Teaching is a prestigious profession that requires continuous learning and improvement. Social media has made access to resources and learning opportunities more convenient for teachers, and Freeed's goal is to take this to a new level. Our platform that offers a space for teachers to share teaching ideas and materials has just broken the milestone of 200 000 registered teacher-users.
The timing of reaching the major milestone was perfect as on the same day we were participating in Educa, the largest education fair in Finland. This provided a great opportunity for us to celebrate with the teachers who are a part of our community. The celebration took place at the afterparty, which we organized in partnership with the Helsinki Education Hub.
Freeed - A Platform for Continuous Professional Development
Freeed is more than just a platform for teachers to share resources; it's a community of practice where teachers can learn from each other and continue their professional development. With hundreds of ideas and materials being shared each week, teachers can easily access new and innovative methods and pedagogical approaches. In January alone, we welcomed 22 000 new teachers, indicating Freeed’s growing popularity and effectiveness.
The idea of a community of practice is not new, and it has proven to be successful in other fields as well. For example, programmers on Stack Overflow share coding instructions with each other for free. Freeed follows a similar model, allowing teachers to share their ideas and materials, thus saving each other time and effort.
